THE WILD WEST ADVENTURE PARK
|
FORMALLY KNOWN AS "LOST CANYON RANCH"
|
THE DREAM IS STILL ALIVE
It is now over 30 years in the dreaming but......
This 170 acre western theme park was designed originally for Williams, Arizona. To be located near the Grand Canyon train. Although the first concept was only 45 acres it soon grew into the worlds largest totally western theme park. Rawhide was 168 acres at the time. This plan was turned down by the town of Williams, their reason was the project was simply to big for the area.
I moved the concept to Rawhide itself and modified the design to fit into the open undeveloped area. But alas the owners of Rawhide were unable to see the dream. I became the Art Director, Decor Designer, and New Project Development man for Rawhide. I built Halloway's Haunted Hotel there and opened it with Elvira.
Nobody told me it was just a land deal and there was no real intent to develop and maintain Rawhide for the future.

The modified LCR design for Rawhide. The top of map would have been Scottsdale Blvd. and West. The parking moved to the back or east off of Williams Ave. The new Pavillion, Rodeo Arena, and 7 acre Water park, were to be built to the north. |
